Self-Portrait: On the Mountain

Trigger man: Myself

Strobist: Built in flash +1.0

Camera info: Nikon D80 | 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 | ƒ/10 | 1/200th.

On the top, here is my seventh photo in my series of work on the mountain. Here is a perfect look into how I spend most my overcast snowy days on top of the mountain. This day in particular was a super slow day as you can see by no one in the background. I thought this photo turned out pretty darn for being one of those hand held my space photos.

Self-Portrait Day 32|365 The Gondola

The Gondola, my fifth photo in my working on the mountain series. Who wouldn’t love a good fifteen minute ride up and down the mountain every day? I know I sure do! It gives me some good down time from standing all day long. I would have to say its my favorite part of working on the mountain..apart from photographing of course.

Trigger man: Myself

Strobist: One SB600 on camera.

Camera info: Nikon D700 | 18-35mm ƒ/3.5-4.5 | ƒ/13 | 1/125th.

Self-Portrait Day 27|365 My Studio

I’m super stoked I finally went out and bought a roll of seamless black paper. I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I’m glad I did. Instead of having the typical lightstands hold up my background I went to my local home depot and bought a couple of wall hooks for a closet pole. Then I also grabbed a ten foot dowel and mounted all that to my wall and it works fantastically.

So with this image I really wanted to show off my new background paper and my studio space. As you can see there isn’t much space the ceiling is only six and a half feet high. I believe the length and width is about 12′ x 12′ so it may look a little longer because I’m zoomed out to 18mm but don’t be fooled this is a very small room for a studio. It does a great job for head shots or half-length photos, anything past that the room becomes way to small to work in. But its still a little slice of photography heaven for me. As for the lights in this photo I not only wanted to light up the room for the photograph itself, but I also wanted to show off my lighting gear as well.

Trigger man: Myself

Strobist: One SB600 acting as background light, but really lighting me. The other two flashes are just for show.
