Self-Portrait Day 33|365 The Lift

The Lift is my sixth photo in my series of work on the mountain. It can be by far colder than the Cabriolet when there is a good breeze going. How did me and my trigger man get this photo? Simple we were both just doing our job. I was riding up to my zone at the top of High Meadow and he was down the run shooting action photos. All I had to do was yell down at him to let him know I was coming. When it came to cropping the image I decided to go with a more artistic crop working with the shapes from the lift. I also love the fact that its snowy, it really shows that snow or shine were up there working on the mountain. As for my pose in the photo I decided to mimic what 90% of punks like myself do when riding up and see the camera man below.

Trigger man: Joesph

Strobist: Snowy overcast day.

Camera info: Nikon D80 | 70mm-300mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 | ƒ/7.1 | 1/1600th | ISO 400.

Self-Portrait Day 30|365 Riding the Cabriolet

This is my third image for my series of working on the mountain. This one is all about the cold, frigid ride up from parking to all the shops and hotels at the base of the mountain. There is no better way to wake you up in the morning than to take a nice breezy ride on the Cabriolet at eight in the morning. This is a really cool shot because I normally take hours to get the photograph I’m looking for but in this case I only had a few minutes in the morning. What I had to do was get on the Cabriolet, whip out my tripod, set up my camera, focus and cross my fingers that something would come out. I was only able to get six frames but my excellent timing skills resulted in a good looking pose with another cart passing by. Let me know what you think!

Trigger man: Myself

Strobist: Morning sun to camera left.

Camera info: Nikon D700 | 18-35mm ƒ/3.5-4.5 | ƒ/18 | 1/160th

Self-Portrait Day 20|365

GageThompsonPhotography

My dad is always looking at this website that has a daily deal on one item every day. One day he saw this watch online for $25 bucks which would normally retail for $75 bucks. So he decided to jump on that deal, and some how in a round about way it became my watch. Which is cool because its a Fossil watch, and I have always liked there brand. I photographed a pair of them while attending Hallmark and it turned out pretty cool, so I figured I should take a photo of this watch while its still new. Then I got to thinking why not kill two birds with one stone and do a self-portrait with a close up on the watch, and that’s just what I did. I decided to turn it to black and white after the fact because the watch itself is all silver with a black face and I just found my skin tone to distracting from the watch. Anyways love to see some comments on what you like and don’t like with this photo. Thanks for reading!

Trigger man: JR Thompson

Strobist: Two SB600’s with shoot through umbrellas above and below watch to light the band. One SB800 below shooting up onto background turning it white.

Camera info: Nikon D700 | 50mm ƒ/1.4G | ƒ/5.6 | 1/200th | Triggered with Nikons CLS.

Fossil Watches

Here are the results from going shopping at Macy’s. Here are the Fossil watches I bought to photography. I was going for a just dug up look as if they were actual Fossils, what do you think?
