Self-Portrait “Poser”

1..2..Pose!, This is my eight photo in my series of work on the mountain. With this photo I wanted to through down a classic SharpShooter pose, and whats more classic than the scorpion pose. Yeah cheesy I know, but its a big hit with the costumers. Its a pretty versatile pose as well. You see right now I’m doing the tough guy pose with my hands down in front. But if I was a chick I would bring my hands right below my chin (insert awww here). Then if you want to get really complicated you through someone on top of your board laying down. Needless to say it’s near impossible, but its pretty sweet when you can pull it off.

Self-Portrait: On the Mountain

Trigger man: Myself

Strobist: Built in flash +1.0

Camera info: Nikon D80 | 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 | ƒ/10 | 1/200th.

On the top, here is my seventh photo in my series of work on the mountain. Here is a perfect look into how I spend most my overcast snowy days on top of the mountain. This day in particular was a super slow day as you can see by no one in the background. I thought this photo turned out pretty darn for being one of those hand held my space photos.

Volcom Wild in the Park 2010

A couple Saturdays ago I cruised down to Greenwood skatepark in AF to photograph Volcoms Wild in the Park. This is its third year running and every year they kick off there North American tour in AF in all places. The whole idea of the tour is to provide an awesome free competition to any and all skateboarders. There all competing for the chance at invites to this years $25,000 WITP championships in Arizona. Its really awesome to watch especially because all my buds skate in it every year. Some of which include Justin Long, Chandler Seipert, and Brodie Penrod. Brodie Penrod is actually reigning champion 3 years running. Last year he placed 1st in the Arizona championships in the pro-am category. And I’m sure he will do it again this year.

Here are a couple gif’s I got shot with my D700 at 8fps. As you can tell by the first clip its hard to compose when your not looking threw the eye piece. Instead I went with the technique of holding it 6” of the ground and being able to get out of the way quick when needed. As for the still photos from the competition. They are actually posted up on SLUG magazines website which you can view exclusively [ here. ]

Project 365 R.I.P.

Like many new year resolutions, my project 365 went up in flames. But not without purpose! What happened? I just got to busy working my multiple jobs. It just got to the point where I didn’t have any time for my personal project anymore. This is a good and bad thing. Good because it means I’m making money and paying off my huge loan. Bad because they were looking so awesome.

It may appear that I only photographed until day 34 but I actually kept on shooting. I just didn’t have time to edit and post them everyday. I actually made it to day 64 that is 30 un-posted photos you get to look forward to in the future. And to anyone who takes on this challenge I promise you wont regret it. The only regret I have was not being able to complete it.
