First Place in Art Show Again!

So this is the second year I have entered into the American Fork Art Show. This is also the second year I placed first in the professional division. Booya! The best part is that both of the photos I have entered are of my buddy Hribar back in MA. Both of them I wouldn’t even imagine would place in a local art show in Utah Valley let alone get first. If you are wondering what other image of Hribar won last year it was the smoking one which you can view HERE or for a better quality viewing click HERE. So hopefully I can keep up the winning streak here in American Fork. Thanks for reading! GT

Thanksgiving Point Fireworks

So here in Utah we celebrated the 4th of July on the 3rd of July because the 4th fell on a Sunday. So we saw fireworks a day earlier then most everyone else. My girlfriend Kari and I decided to go the the free show at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. As you can see its pretty popular. Also as you can see by the photos I went there more to just hang out and enjoy the fireworks than to make photos. I figure the guy that lives on the 10th floor across from the Eiffel Tower has me beat hands down when it comes to amazing firework shots. So anyhow here are some photos I took while we were there waiting, watching and leaving.

Photo of Kari and me amongst the waves of people.

Not to shabby for a MySpace photo.

Cute shot of Kari in her extremely blindingly bright blanket.

Another shot of Kari. As you can see it was so cold she lost her hands to frost bite ;)

The firework shot of the day.

You guys have already seen this one in the previous post. Great shot for being taken the way it was.

I love this shot! Cranked my ISO to 4,000 and used the car light for my lighting.

Project 365 R.I.P.

Like many new year resolutions, my project 365 went up in flames. But not without purpose! What happened? I just got to busy working my multiple jobs. It just got to the point where I didn’t have any time for my personal project anymore. This is a good and bad thing. Good because it means I’m making money and paying off my huge loan. Bad because they were looking so awesome.

It may appear that I only photographed until day 34 but I actually kept on shooting. I just didn’t have time to edit and post them everyday. I actually made it to day 64 that is 30 un-posted photos you get to look forward to in the future. And to anyone who takes on this challenge I promise you wont regret it. The only regret I have was not being able to complete it.

365 Self-Portraits Project

I have been wanting to do a photography project of some sort forever. One project that I have always been interested in is doing a self-portrait every day for an entire year. I remember January 1st of 2009 watching a group of my classmates at Hallmark and many other around the world take on this challenge. I watched as some gave up and others prevailed. Now its my turn to give it a shot. I’m starting on January 1st 2010 and ending on December 31st 2010.

Why would I do something so time consuming and challenging you might ask? For two reasons the first being I have always wanted to keep a journal but I never really enjoyed writing. Now I can with the pictures I take of myself. I can depict what happened that day in a single photograph and add a caption at the bottom. Not every photograph is going to be about what happened to me that day, it could be some off the wall random cool self-portrait I decided to make. But like every photograph it will have a reason and a purpose which I will be sure to add in the caption along with what happened to me that day.

The other reason I’m doing this is to keep my creativity up, to keep things fresh, to practice and get better at what I love to do.

I am excited to start and I hope you all follow along with me as I create an awesome self-portrait every day for an entire year.

Wish me luck!
